Trick-or-Treating in Guelph: Neighbourhoods Kids (and Parents) Love

Halloween brings out the best in a community, and some neighbourhoods really go all in.

Why neighbourhoods matter: Streets with sidewalks, lower traffic, and lots of houses close together make trick-or-treating easier and safer. Many families consider this when choosing where to live.

What to look for: Mature, walkable areas and newer family-oriented subdivisions often draw big crowds. Cul-de-sacs and quiet crescents can be especially popular with younger kids.

Safety Tips

  • Add reflective tape or glow sticks to costumes.

  • Walk with a group and stay on sidewalks.

  • Turn on your porch light only if you're welcoming trick-or-treaters.

  • Check candy before kids dig in.

  • For homeowners: A decorated porch, a well-lit walkway, and a clear path to the door make your home welcoming and safe for visitors.

Happy Halloween, Guelph! If you're thinking about moving to a family-friendly pocket of the city, reach out and I'll happily share my favourite streets.
